Fun, social, and community-based activities on evenings and weekends
Alkira’s Recreation programs offer a wide range of engaging after-hours activities for people with intellectual disabilities. Programs are designed to be fun, inclusive, and supportive — supporting participants connect with others, enjoy new experiences, and build independence outside of weekday routines.
Our recreation calendar includes a mix of evening and weekend activities across Melbourne. Whether it’s enjoying a night out, visiting a local attraction, or participating in a regular movie group, Alkira ensures participants have access to enjoyable and meaningful experiences.
We encourage feedback and suggestions, and our calendar is co-designed with participants.
Some favourite supported outings are:
Join this group of foodies on a Tuesday evening each month to explore different restaurants around Melbourne. Runs from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.
Meet up once a month on a Tuesday evening for a cinema outing to enjoy a new release film at Hoyts. Runs from 3:00pm to 9:00pm.
It depends on the activity — some events include food, others may require you to bring your own or money to purchase it. This is always outlined in the monthly calendar. Common items to bring include:
