We are not like any other day service

Alkira’s Springfield centre in Nunawading is unlike any other. Supports focus on building functional capacity, daily living skills, and independence, enabling participants to explore their interests, increase confidence, and engage more actively in everyday life and their community.

Encouraging choice everyday

We offer a variety of engaging, practical supports designed to help participants build confidence, increase functional capacity, and develop everyday life skills. These activities align with NDIS goals related to independence, communication, and personal growth.

Participants can:

  • Learn to use technology (iPads, iPhones, apps)
  • Navigate the internet and explore online tools
  • Understand and safely use household appliances
  • Participate in group games and safety awareness activities
  • Express themselves through arts, music, and creativity

All supports are tailored to individual interests and needs, and delivered in a calm, flexible setting that reduces anxiety while championing choice, skill development, and greater independence in everyday life.

At Alkira Springfield Centre we offer a range of different supports such as non-verbal communication, medication administration, diabetes management, personal care, incontinence support, facilities for mobility, peg feeding and mealtime support.

Flexible day supports with a focus on wellbeing

Unlike fixed-schedule services, our approach at our Springfield Centre is responsive to how participants are feeling on the day. We focus on wellbeing, and each person is supported to choose how they want to spend their time — with freedom to follow their own pace and preferences.

This flexibility helps participants feel more in control, promotes mental health, and creates a calm, enjoyable experience.

At Springfield Centre we support people to:

  • use apps and technology accessories to support communication, access to services, and daily tasks
  • safely navigate the internet and use online tools for information, connection, and community access
  • understand and use household items to increase independence in daily living
  • participate in group activities while developing safety awareness and social skills
  • express themselves through arts and crafts to build communication, confidence, and functional skills
  • engage with and create music as a way to develop self‑expression, regulation, and participation
