Alkira’s Independent Me program offers NDIS-funded work training and employment support for people with disability. This service is designed to help participants achieve their employment goals, build job readiness skills, and grow in confidence on the path to open employment.
Whether you’re just starting to explore employment or looking to gain real-world work experience, Independent Me is here to support your journey to greater independence.
At Alkira, we know that meaningful work is life-changing. Our Work Training and Placements program supports adults with intellectual disabilities to gain real-world job experience in roles that align with their interests, skills, and NDIS employment goals.
Whether it’s landscaping, barista work, supermarket support, or something entirely different — we’re here to make it happen.
Through our Independent Me program, participants receive one-on-one support from our skilled team as they begin their volunteer or work placements. We start by identifying each person’s strengths and areas for development, then provide hands-on guidance to build confidence and capacity. As skills grow, we gradually reduce support to foster greater independence and workplace readiness.
We take a flexible, person-centred approach — adapting support levels based on the individual and their chosen workplace. We support a wide range of different jobs: if you’re interested, we’ll help you give it a go.
Work Training and Placements is for people with intellectual disabilities who:
