Thank You to The Kitchen Shack for Their Longstanding Support

The Kitchen Shack (formerly Zesta Kitchens) commitment to Alkira has made a lasting impact on our organisation and the people we support.

Alkira is proud to recognise and thank The Kitchen Shack (formerly Zesta Kitchens) for their incredible support and long-term partnership. Their commitment has made a lasting impact on our organisation and the people we support.

In 2019, The Kitchen Shack launched a dedicated campaign to support our largest-ever project—the development of the Springfield Community Hub in Nunawading. From September to November, $150 from every new kitchen sale was donated to the Springfield build, directly supporting this purpose-built space for adults with intellectual disabilities. Kitchen Shack also generously provided all of the cabinetry used throughout the building, contributing to both the functionality and welcoming feel of the centre.

Springfield was designed to meet the changing needs of our participants as they age, and includes accessible technology, mobility supports such as ceiling hoists, and calm, adaptable spaces shaped by input from the disability community. The Kitchen Shack’s contributions helped bring that vision to life.

The Kitchen Shack also supported the development of the Alkira Link Computer Hub at our Thurston Street site in 2024, continuing their legacy of backing projects that empower individuals through access, independence, and opportunity.

Their generosity extended once again in late 2024, when they contributed to the fit-out of our new AlkiraBiz Cafe by providing cabinetry at cost price. This support helped bring our café to life—creating a welcoming space for participants to learn barista and hospitality skills in a real working environment.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing generosity of The Kitchen Shack. Their support has helped create spaces where people can thrive—and their partnership continues to shape a more inclusive future.
