On a Thursday in May, a group of Alkira participants had an unforgettable experience — they were live audience members at The Project, one of Australia’s most well-known current affairs shows, filmed right here in Melbourne.
The group got a front-row seat to the action behind the cameras, witnessing how a national television show is brought to life. The Project, which aired weeknights on Channel 10, featured a mix of news, current events, humour and interviews, and was known for its engaging and conversational style. Watching the hosts deliver stories in real time and seeing how the studio crew worked behind the scenes was a thrilling and unique opportunity for our participants.
This visit was made even more special by the fact that the group attended one of the final episodes of the show before it officially ended. After many years on air, The Project has now wrapped up — making this outing a rare and meaningful moment in television history. It was a fantastic way for participants to say goodbye to a program that had become a familiar part of many Australian households.
The night sparked lots of excitement and conversation, with many participants saying it was one of the highlights of their year. From seeing the bright studio lights and camera setups, to hearing the countdowns and cues from the production team — it was a real peek into the world of television and media.
We’re proud to have been part of this experience and to give our participants the opportunity to witness something so memorable. It was not only a fun night out, but also a celebration of storytelling, connection, and the end of an iconic chapter in Australian television.
