Strengthening Voices through Co-Design
In early December, Alkira’s newly formed Participant and Partnership Committee met for the second time since its establishment. The committee brings together participants, families, and senior management to strengthen voices and participation, ensuring that lived experience and family perspectives meaningfully inform our organisational decision-making.
This meeting focused on key operational priorities and included a detailed exploration of Alkira’s Life Stages Model: a framework designed to plan and deliver supports across the full arc of adult life. The model is underpinned by the GROW tool (Guided Review of Outcomes and Wellbeing), which monitors meaningful goals, outcomes, and barriers as services are delivered.
Importantly, the Life Stages Model and GROW are not programs, but a mindset and guiding framework. They represent Alkira’s commitment to a more meaningful, person-centred way of supporting people across their whole adult lives.
The GROW tool supports participants by tracking progress against their personal goals, helping to evidence outcomes and strengthen support for NDIS planning, reviews, and funding conversations. During the session, the committee participated in a live demonstration of the tool and formally endorsed both the GROW tool and the Life Stages Model, recognising the positive impact this approach will have for participants.
We appreciate the time, insights and commitment each of our committee members has given, their contributions have been vital in ensuring everything we implement, like this new framework, is improving the way we provide support to the people we serve.
Alkira looks forward to implementing this model in 2026 and continuing to strengthen co-design through the Participant and Partnership Committee.
