At Alkira, we’re all about creating opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to live more independently — we’re thrilled to share some incredible news that helps make that possible in a big way.
Thanks to the generous support of Inner East Community Finance Ltd, part of the Bendigo Bank Community Bank network, Alkira has received an extraordinary $237,000 grant to build a state-of-the-art two-bedroom bungalow in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
This is more than just a building — it’s a future home. A safe, purpose-built space where adults with intellectual disabilities can thrive, feel supported, and live life on their terms. We are incredibly grateful to Inner East Community Finance and Bendigo Bank for their ongoing commitment to community wellbeing and for choosing to partner with Alkira to bring this vision to life.
We’re also excited to be working with Todd Devine Homes as our building partner. With over 20 years of experience and more than 10,000 homes built across Victoria, their expertise in high-quality, transportable homes makes them the perfect team to help bring our vision to reality.
Alkira has just received our planning permit, with the support and thanks to the City of Whitehorse. This is a huge milestone and means we’re one step closer to making this project a reality.
The new bungalow will join Alkira’s network of five housing properties, where we support people not just with housing, but with everyday living — from personal care and meal preparation to building routines and achieving personal goals.
Together with Inner East Community Finance, Bendigo Bank, Todd Devine Homes, and the City of Whitehorse, we’re turning funds into foundations — and foundations into futures.
Stay tuned as this exciting project takes shape — we can’t wait to welcome its new residents home. Completion is estimated for late 2025.
