Community Supports Pricing and Charges

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS provides services and support to people with disability. NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The NDIS pays for services for people with a disability. Services can help with daily life, help to meet your goals, support you to do the things you want to do. The NDIS can also cover different aids, equipment and therapies that you may need.

What does the NDIS pay for?

The NDIS will cover the cost of support staff, you can see what support and services are covered by the NDIS on the NDIS website here.

Alkira charges for NDIS services according to the prices in the NDIS price guide available on the NDIS website here.

What may I need to pay for?

For our Community Supports services – SLES, Momentum, Networks, Connections Thurston and Connections Springfield Community Hub – we have a few different types of fees.

Session Fees (Activity Costs)

Session fees cover the cost of materials, venue charges, equipment and other activity costs. These costs are not covered by the NDIS and therefore session fees are an out-of-pocket expense paid by the participant. The session fee will either be invoiced or paid in cash by the participant directly to a venue or store on the day (for example, when going swimming the entry fee for the aquatic centre will be paid directly in cash on the day). Session fees vary, we display the different prices for each of our activities in our program booklet, in our service agreement and on the participant’s timetable – some activities have no session fee. Please review any of these documents to see what your activity fees are so you know what to expect to be charged as Activity Costs on your invoice.

Site Provisions Charge

On days that participants attend an Alkira site they will pay a daily $3.30 (GST inc.) provisions charge. This is an out-of-pocket expense which contributes to the cost of supplying items such as first aid supplies, sunscreen, equipment, PPE, tea/coffee and other consumable items that are not funded by the NDIS.

Transport Fees

Where Alkira provides transport, charges will apply. Depending on your NDIS funding there may be out-of-pocket expenses.
